The purpose of the advertising standards authority is to regulate which adverts are suitable for the public also they make sure adverts don’t mislead the public. The ASA make judgements based on advertising codes written by the committee of advertising authority.

From march the asa will begging applying these rules to marketing communications websites. The asa make a decision based on things like misleading consumers, recently a coca cola ad for vitamin water was banned because it was deemed misleading. The ad stated that the product vitamin water was nutritious because it contained RAD of vitamin C however the drink also contained five teaspoons of sugar and therefore couldn’t be very notorious. When designing an advert you have to consider weather it is appropriate and would configure with the ASAs guidelines. Otherwise it could be banned for a varitety of things such as nudity or misleading the public.
